𝗖𝗔𝗡 𝗬𝗢𝗨 𝗩𝗢𝗧𝗘 𝗔𝗧 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵 𝗚𝗙𝗔 𝗔𝗚𝗠?

In my numerous recent conversations with GFA Members, it has become very apparent that at least some GFA Members do not understand what is required to vote at the AGM, which will be held this Saturday, August 31 starting at 09:00 in the Newcomb Central School auditorium. I hope the following will help:

The currently sitting GFA board recognizes 𝙩𝙝𝙧𝙚𝙚 separate types of GFA Members:

1.) Voting Members: These are lot owners who have not only paid their annual dues, but have also paid to the GFA what the currently sitting GFA board euphemistically calls an additional “initiation fee”, thereby 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 their right to vote. I only wish I was kidding.

2.) Associate Members. These are lot owners who have paid their annual dues, but have, for whatever reason, NOT paid to the GFA an additional “initiation fee”, and thereby n̳o̳t̳ 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 their right to vote. I again only wish I was kidding.

3.) NON-Members: These are lot owners who, for whatever reason, have n̳o̳t̳ paid their dues, and are therefore barred from membership in the GFA altogether, and therefore also barred (as either a Member or a Guest of a Member) from enjoying the benefits of the Flow and the surrounding lands. At least that’s the theory.

Simply paying your annual dues absolutely does 𝑵𝑶𝑻 entitle anyone to vote on anything, under the currently sitting GFA board. If you own your lot but have not 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 your right to vote from the GFA, you are NOT a Voting Member, you are merely an Associate Member, which gives you the right to enjoy the Flow and our leased land, attend GFA-sponsored soirees (always soooooo pleasant, as long as you don’t question ANYTHING or even HINT at suggesting alternatives) and to speak at meetings, but gives you absolutely 𝙉𝙊 real say in the functioning of the GFA, by 100% depriving you of your ability to vote.

Yes, in 2019.

Yes, in The United States of America.

Yes, the currently sitting GFA board actually requires you to 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒 your right to vote.

Please let that one sink in for a moment.

The 2019 Goodnow Flow Association Annual General Meeting will be held on August 31 at 09:00 in the Newcomb Central School auditorium. 𝙊𝙉𝙇𝙔 GFA Members who have paid an additional "initiation fee" (not just annual dues) and thereby 𝑝𝑢𝑟𝑐ℎ𝑎𝑠𝑒𝑑 their right to vote, and who are able to 𝘱𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘈𝘎𝘔 i̳n̳ ̳p̳e̳r̳s̳o̳n̳, will be allowed to vote on anything.
