Recently, I wrote to mr. fibiger (the currently sitting “president” of the GFA – stay tuned for some interesting information in other upcoming blog entries about this deeply dubious claim…), politely asking three questions about the GFA, including one relating to the planned replacement for resigned GFA Director Clifford Tsan. I specifically wrote to mr. fibiger because mr. fibiger had previously instructed me to “use me(mr. fibiger)” for any questions I would have about the GFA, after other queries of mine went wholly unanswered by all the other currently sitting GFA board members. Here’s the gist: mr. fibiger’s response to the courteous queries of a Dues-Paying, Voting Member in Good Standing of the GFA was that mr. fibiger will not be replying, but with the added assurance that these matters will be discussed at the upcoming January meeting of the GFA (I have lost count of how many “assurances” of mr. fibiger have gone unfulfilled). mr. fibiger is talking about the GFA meeting in Glens Falls. In January. When almost no one will be around. Super!! 👍 👍 👍 And, it just so happens that at this exact same meeting in January in Glens Falls that mr. fibiger and the currently sitting GFA bored plan to announce the replacement for the resigned GFA Director, Clifford Tsan. So, if there perhaps is anything questionable or potentially contrary to the GFA bylaws (which we are all subject to) going on with the process under which Mr. Tsan will be replaced, it will be far too late to question that process at the January meeting, because it will be at the January meeting in Glens Falls that Mr. Tsan’s replacement will be announced. This is genuine subtly brilliantly diabolical maneuvering by mr. fibiger and the currently sitting GFA bored, but it is also wildly unethical and wholly unacceptable to any rational-thinking Human Being.
Regardless of how incredibly poorly the currently sitting GFA bored “manages” the affairs of the GFA, the reality exists that they are the governing body to whose whims all of us who are sufficiently blessed to own lots on our mutually Treasured Flow are all subjected. It’s a bit like a Town Supervisor or a State Governor or a Congressperson – we are all subject to their decisions as long as they remain in office. And, lucky us, we get to pay them all taxes: Local taxes, State taxes, Federal taxes, etc. Because the currently sitting GFA board is the (IMHO) wildly unethical and frequently incompetent current ruling authority which ”manages” the affairs of the GFA, and because we lot owners are all compelled to belong to the GFA by owning lots on the Flow, we all also get to pay the equivalent of “taxes” to the GFA, in the form of our annual dues payments. If you politely asked the government authority to whom you pay taxes three simple questions, and that government body replied with, “We’ll answer only if and when we feel like it”, would you sit still for that......?
Here is a direct quote from the “About” section of the Facebook page representing the currently sitting GFA bored:
“If you are a lot owner on the Goodnow Flow and have a matter you want to raise or questions relating to GFA policies or business, please contact an officer or Board member. Their contact information has been sent to all lot owners.”
I very polite did exactly as instructed, and the response essentially was: ‘We’ll get back to you if and when we feel like it.’ And for THIS, we currently pay $1,200 per year. Utterly outrageous and wholly unacceptable.
Together, we really CAN do MUCH better.
