The currently and only temporarily sitting Goodnow Flow Association (a.k.a.: GFA) Board of Directors (a.k.a.: Bunch of Dinosaurs) has long subscribed to the ridiculous notion of, "We're a private club, so we do what we want!". This is perhaps their biggest lie so far.
Our Flow exists within the Towns of Newcomb and Minerva (yes, really - look it up if you don't believe me), Essex County, New York State, and The United States of America. The Bunch of Dinosaurs would like you to believe they can do whatever they want, but legally they cannot. The dinosaurs and all other Fellow Flow Lot Owners (a.k.a.: FFLO's) are subject to a buttload of laws and restrictions, ranked in the following order:
The United States Constitution
The Laws of New York State
The Laws of Essex County
The Laws of the Towns of Newcomb and Minerva
The GFA Bylaws
Our bylaws rank dead last on the list because they should rank dead last on the list. Our Flow is not Brazil or Armenia or whatever other actually sovereign nation leaps to mind, and therefore does not enjoy the legitimate ability to simply make stuff up which suits the dinosaurs or anyone else. Every little thing which the GFA and/or the dinosaurs and/or any of us FFLO's attempt to do must be in compliance with the mountains of regulations and regulatory authorities above us. When actions are taken or words are published which do not respect the legitimate authority of any of the layers above, an actionable offence occurs.
IMHO, simpleton steff simply lied to you (again) when they falsely declared that the question of the GFA's ability to pass bylaws like the one regulating lot division is a permanently settled matter. It's very far from settled. More on this fact in an upcoming blog entry. In the meantime, please just be aware that whether we like it or not, our Flow is subservient to literally thousands and thousands of laws and regulations and regulatory bodies which extend far beyond our shockingly poorly written Bylaws, and which do have legitimate teeth for enforcement.
